Every bike shop owner knows this pitfall: It’s a hectic Saturday afternoon. A rider grabs the last 12-speed chain off your hook, pays cash, and pedals away happy. Two hours later, a customer online buys that exact same chain for Monday pickup. Come Monday morning, someone has to send an awkward “sorry, our inventory was off” email to an annoyed local customer.
Running a separate POS behind the counter and an unlinked website online is essentially operating two different businesses that are constantly lying to each other.
At our sample shop, Bike Co., the Ridgeline theme is linked directly to Upline Base. There is one single source of truth. When you ring up a tire, tube, or bike at the counter, it drops off the web storefront instantaneously. When a shipment arrives from receiving, you whip out your phone, scan the barcode, and the item is live on your website and register simultaneously.
Better yet, it’s built on open-source WordPress and WooCommerce. You own your site, your data, and your customer relationships—no rigid walled gardens or closed-platform hostage situations.
(Heads up: We’re also actively building distributor feeds so a barcode scan will eventually pull specs, MAP rules, and warehouse stock automatically. It’s still a work in progress, but the foundation is already laid.
